Biography & Trial Legacy

Founding attorney David Allen Chicarelli brings more than 50 years of courtroom trial experience, judicial insight, and dedicated advocacy to the Law Office of David A. Chicarelli Co., LPA. Admitted to the Ohio Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in 1975, David Sr. built the firm from the ground up on the core principle that every individual deserves fearless, prepared, and honest legal representation.

Throughout a half-century in Southwest Ohio legal practice, David Sr. has handled landmark civil and criminal litigation. His trial record includes representing victims in the historic 1979 Who Concert tragedy litigation in Cincinnati, serving as counsel in the complex 1986 Miamisburg train derailment class action, and litigating numerous high-stakes jury trials in state and federal courts. His extensive experience spans catastrophic personal injury, complex contract and business disputes, municipal governance, and high-level criminal defense.

Distinguished Public Service & Judicial Experience

In addition to his private trial practice, David Sr. has dedicated decades of service to the Southwest Ohio legal and civic communities. His public service career provides invaluable perspective on how prosecutors, judges, and administrative bodies evaluate cases:

• City Law Director & Municipal Prosecutor (1985 to 2022): Served 37 continuous years advising municipal leadership, drafting local legislation, and overseeing public prosecutions.
• Magistrate (2009 to 2015): Presided over judicial hearings, civil disputes, and evidentiary proceedings.
• County Court Judge (2013 to 2014): Appointed to preside over criminal dockets, preliminary hearings, misdemeanor trials, and civil actions.

Academic Instruction & Firm Leadership

For more than a decade, David Sr. contributed to legal education as an Instructor of Real Estate Law and Business Law at Miami University (1979 to 1990). Today, he collaborates alongside his son, lead trial lawyer David Anthony Chicarelli, and associate Keali Chambers, providing strategic counsel and seasoned litigation guidance on the firm's most complex trial matters.

Outside the courtroom, David is married with two adult children and three step-children, and enjoys traveling the world with his wife.
